Descending from the pine highlands of Flagstaff into the crimson depths of Sedona, then up the world's most dramatic geological staircase — past the rim of the Grand Canyon — to the towering High Plateaus of Utah.
The Grand Staircase isn't poetry — it's a literal sequence of sedimentary rock layers that step up from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the top of Bryce. Geologists name the steps by color: Chocolate, Vermilion, White, Gray, Pink. The helicopter leg of this trip crosses the Vermilion zone — and Amangiri sits in the Vermilion-to-White transition at ~4,000 ft.
Each region opens to its own page with hotels, activities, and air transport laid out in tabs. Tap a pill to dive in — back button on every sub-page returns you here.
Two-stop arrival arc. Land at Flagstaff Pulliam (KFLG) Sunday afternoon Apr 4 — wander downtown Flagstaff at 7,000 ft, an early dinner option — then a private-car transfer down 89A through Oak Creek Canyon to L'Auberge in Sedona for the evening. Monday is the full Sedona day. Tuesday morning the Aman helicopter lifts off for Amangiri.
All-in total includes Resort Fee $443.80, Sales Tax $507.71, City Tax $170.87, and Local Tourism Assessment $11.04. Valet fee billed at the hotel.
L'Auberge website ↗Cancellation Policy · Cancel by 4 p.m. local time, 7 days prior to arrival, to avoid a one-night penalty fee. One-night deposit (room + resort fee + taxes) is required at the time of booking and refundable per the rate's cancellation policy. Resort fee is 10% (minimum $25) plus applicable tax, taken at deposit.
Pick the one whose temperament fits the morning — the most A&K-like, fully handled outing, or the most bespoke, guide-led trail experience.
Cress is the easiest evening — already on property at L'Auberge. The two off-site options are a few minutes' drive each.
A&K's Great American Southwest itinerary gives Sedona a 2-day stop and centers on Honanki Heritage Site and the Sinagua cliff dwellings / petroglyphs — about 15 miles west of Sedona. Worth a half-day if the appetite is for archaeology over more red-rock hiking.
The only McDonald's in the world with turquoise arches instead of golden ones. Sedona's strict aesthetic zoning code requires commercial signage to harmonize with the red-rock landscape, and when McDonald's opened this location in 1993 the city refused the standard gold — they painted them sea-foam turquoise to blend with the desert sky against the cliffs. Worth a drive-by photo on any cruise through West Sedona.
Pair-it-with: Devin Booker's Nike Book 2 "Sedona" colorway — the Phoenix Suns guard cited these turquoise arches as the direct inspiration for the shoe's color palette. Wear them for the photo.
Private jet via family NetJets quarter share, departing the family's home FBO at Sugar Land Regional (SGR) — ~25 min SW of inner-loop Houston. Direct flight ~2 hours to Flagstaff Pulliam Airport. Wider runway than Sedona Municipal (KSEZ) and significantly easier approach — no Tabletop Mesa cliff edges, no density-altitude trap on the runway ends. Trades a 10-min transfer to L'Auberge for a 45-min scenic drive down 89A through Oak Creek Canyon, with several hours in Flagstaff in between.
The on-field FBO at Flagstaff Pulliam — full private aviation services including Jet-A fueling, GPU/power cart, passenger lounge, and concierge ground coordination. Will receive the NetJets aircraft and hand off to the pre-arranged car service curbside.
Pilot note: KFLG sits at 7,015 ft MSL — meaningful density altitude considerations, especially in warmer conditions. The runway is long (~8,800 ft) and wide (150 ft), comfortable for heavy jets, but takeoff performance numbers should be confirmed with the crew. No cliff-edge or mesa-top approach hazards like Sedona Municipal. Generally a more conservative arrival airport for a family-owned NetJets share.
Not a point-to-point transfer — an hourly as-directed booking where the driver picks up at Wiseman Aviation, holds the SUV (and the luggage) through the Flagstaff afternoon, accompanies any in-town stops, then drives the 89A leg through Oak Creek Canyon to L'Auberge that evening. L'Auberge's concierge desk brokers this directly — one booking, billed through the room, with the resort owning the handoff.
Booking line: L'Auberge concierge · (855) 905-5745 — ask them to coordinate the hourly as-directed booking with Vitesse end-to-end, including any Lowell Observatory or downtown dinner stops on the Flagstaff side.
Aman concierge can arrange direct helicopter pickup from Sedona to Amangiri's private helipad. Optional add-on: Grand Canyon East Rim scenic flyover en route — turning the transit into a defining experience. Eliminates the 5-hour drive through Flagstaff.
If Aman can't arrange the Sedona-side pickup directly, fallback: a private charter from a Sedona-based operator (Apex Air or Zion Helicopters). Aman's heli takes over from there.
All-in figure extrapolated linearly from Aman's 3-night quote ($45,647.88) to 4 nights. Final all-in confirmed by Aman at booking.
